Emergency Response Plan/Evacuation Procedures
American Professional Institute has developed Emergency Response and Evacuation Procedures for any incident which threatens the safety of students and staff on campus. These procedures are outlined in the Student Handbook and are available in Student Services offices at each campus. All procedures will be reviewed at each orientation and tested monthly.

Notifications of Campus Community
Methods of communications with the campus community have been developed to ensure quick and accurate dissemination of information. An auditory alarm system (utilizing interior and exterior speakers) is the primary means of emergency notification at American Professional Institute during office hours. During an emergency/disaster, the appropriate alarm system is activated according to the type of emergency. If needed and when appropriate, the email system may be activated for the immediate transmission of specific information regarding an emergency to all affected areas of the campus. In addition to email, other electronic methods of issuing notifications could be used, such as notifications on the campus website. Additionally, a telephone tree network could also be activated. In the event of a disabled telephone system and as another means of communication, building occupants would be notified in person by the Building Coordinators in case of a daytime emergency and at night by Security Officers and/or Staff Supervisors.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Media Communications
The Regional or Campus Directors are responsible
for any news media contacts to include; development and distribution
of press releases and to initiate news broadcasts in reference
to suspension of institutional operations with the approval of
the CEO or CFO. In addition, these employees will assist in the
development and/or distribution of information to faculty/staff.
Faculty, staff and/or students will direct all requests for information
from the news media to the Regional or Campus Directors. Staff
and/or faculty are not authorized to communicate with the media
without receiving prior approval from the CEO or CFO.
Monthly Testing
All methods of communication will be tested at least monthly. A description of the exercise, whether announced or unannounced, will be documented and a file maintained in the Facilities Department.
